The Clock - Part 2

One day I took my seven-year-old son with me to shop an electric wall clock for the kitchen and found a whole counter full of them on sale at a discount store. I had trouble deciding which clock to buy. While I grasped one clock in my hand and looked at another, I asked my son which one her liked better.

"The one you're holding with the mouse in it, Mom," he said.

Before his words had sunk in, a real, live mouse jumped out onto the counter and scurried away. I shrieked so loud everyone turned to see what was wrong. I was so embarrassed. I tried to sneak out of the store. Everyone was staring at me. On the way out the door, my delighted son recited Hickory, Dickory, Dock.

Dora's dilemma illustrates conflicts we all have. When we went to be, have, or do something tat does not match the beliefs we hold about ourselves, our unconscious minds will block us. When the desired result is around the corner, it may send out danger signals in the form of a flood of fear or anxiety, or create tension and pain in the body, or block the neural pathways to stored memory so your mind goes blank or gets scrambles.

When you program the belief that you are no good at something - and the truth is that your mind and body are capable of doing it - your unconscious mind is faithful employee. It does what it is told - and you don't get what you want.

Henry Ford stated it in simple words, "Whether you believe you can or you believe you can't you are right."
